Please support the Museum

Donate to help our running costs

The Lanman Museum is run by an independent charity (not part of English Heritage, who manage Framlingham Castle in which the museum is located).  It was set up in 1957 to preserve and display artefacts associated with the town of Framlingham over time.  Nearly 100,000 visitors walk through and view our museum every year.

The museum is managed by volunteers, and we rely on donations to help cover our costs.  We are currently trying to raise funds to pay for some new environmentally-protected cabinets for our exhibits. Up to now, we have relied on cash donations in the museum (in the donation box, which is the old Post Box by the end door).

If you have visited the museum and found it worthwhile, or would like to support the Museum and website, please consider making a contribution.  You can scan the QR code on this page to connect to a website on which you can make a donation, or go directly to QRpay.

Donate an object

The items on display have been generously donated to the museum. If you have something of local interest that you would consider donating, we would be very pleased to hear from you.  Please email John Bridges.  Note that sometimes we cannot accept an object, for example if we do not have space or it does not meet the scope of our collection.

Donate your time

Would you like to volunteer for a couple of hours a week over the summer? If so, we’d love you to join us.

The Lanman Museum, based in Framlingham Castle, is looking for Stewards to be in the Museum while lots of friendly and interesting visitors are looking at our displays. If you like meeting and greeting visitors and are interested in volunteering in a fantastic historical environment, we would love to welcome you on board. Full guidance will be provided on the various exhibits.

Sessions are 11-1pm in the morning and 2-4pm in the afternoon, throughout June to September. Our Stewards sign up to sessions on a monthly, fortnightly or weekly basis, so you can do as many or as few sessions as you like, depending on what suits you best.

If you are keen to get involved, please email oliviajclear@gmail.com.

Very many thanks  –  Lanman Museum Trustees
